The collection

What grows in the understorey

The understorey is the forest's quiet layer, the growth that lives beneath the canopy. This winter's range is cut from that palette: rust and ember, moss and olive, ochre, oat and sage.

Two threads run through the drop. Patchwork and block-print, pieced by hand and stamped with carved blocks. And hand-loomed cloth, hemp and gheri, woven in narrow bands.

The cloth

Two threads run through the drop

The first is patchwork and block-print. Panels pieced by hand, seams over-stitched, motifs stamped with carved blocks. No two panels sit quite the same.

The second is hand-loomed cloth: hemp herringbone for the sling, gheri stripe for the vest, both woven in narrow bands on the same kind of loom, then cut and joined.

Provenance

Made slowly, in Kathmandu

Every piece in the drop is cut and stitched in small batches by makers in Kathmandu. Small runs mean slight variation from piece to piece. That is part of the make, not a flaw.

When a run sells through, it's gone for the season.
